9 x 12" Strathmore canvas paper. Grumbacher Pentalic woodless HB pencil. A co-worker lent me this pencil, which I'd never before tried. It glides easily and can quickly put down a tone, but can't get very dark on this paper. Done on Sept. 23, '08.
12 x 9" Strathmore canvas paper. Wolff BB pencil. The model wore a nice, old-fashioned outfit and put an interesting twist in his pose. Again, hard to get darks on this type of paper with this normally dark pencil. Done Sept. 16, '08.
12 x 9" Canson watercolor paper. Wolff carbon pencil and gray wash. The model came with turn-of-the-1900's French fieldworkers' undergarments. This and the one following are eight-minute sketches.
I made this drawing of a certain local celebrity on a bad hair day from a newspaper photo sometime in 2007. I've had it taped to the wall in my work space at my job and it seems to get comments from co-workers. Image size roughly 10 x 8"; color pencil and Tombow gray wash on animation paper.
Wolff carbon B pencil on Strathmore 9 x 12" canvas paper. I've been trying out different papers and media, and the carbon pencil leaves an interesting effect on this canvas-embossed paper. Almost like a wash. Hard to get darks.
